I bought a PSP off eBay expecting the newest firmware and when it came I checked it and it said 1.5. So seeing as I'm a total n00b, what should I do with it, like what should I put on it, I think?

well for a start what would you like to do on it?
if you want to play iso games go download devhook and read the loads of threads about it :0)

I just read about a PS1 emulator, where do I download that and how would I play games off it?

The PS1-Emulator doesn't really work at the moment, the framerates are too low to really play anything but the creators are on a good way. Ask again in about three months or something like that.
