I am getting my son a PSP for Christmas this year. Can someone tell me everything I need to get in addition to the system itself. For instance, should I get the WiFi adapter, extra memory, or anything else that he may need to play games with his friends, or watch movies. I just don't want to have to try and run to the store the day after Christmas to get something I should have gotten already.

I'd recommend you get at least 1gb memory stick, and if you're willing to shell out the money maybe a 2 or 4. If you don't have a wireless router you might consider getting WiFi Max, it's a dongle that connects to your USB and serves as a wireless hotspot. Maybe consider a Logitech Playgear Pocket, it's a better case than the one that comes with the PSP. Also, if you think he really needs it, maybe get a dock that holds the psp to watch movies. But that pretty much covers what I'd recommend.

a 4 gig memory stick would be great so you could use devhook and put games/music/video on there

May I ask what devhook is?? I've read that term quite a bit on afterdawn, but have no clue what it is or what it does. Do I need the wifi adapter if my internet connection is wireless??

Still greek to me. ISO's, I thought that was the ones you made on your computer, which can only be played by the 1.5. Don't know what emulates later means?

ISO is like WinRAR. You put all your stuff in the file and compress it to ISO. The PSP games are ISO's. Use devhook to play them.

Emulates later means that devhook can run the latest firmware games. Because some games say that you have to upgrade to a version to play the game. The latest devhook 0.50 emulates to 2.82!

to further clarify, an .iso file is an image file of a disc. it's one of many formats used to copy files to computers and go from there. with the software available for the psp, you can take an .iso file (or image of a psp game), load it on a memory card, and play it from there.

devhook is one of the means to play these image files. that seems to be explained well enough already.
