I have an 8 pin connection on my motherboard ( think it powers the pci slots ).

The problem is i only have a 4 pin connection on my power supply.

Will the 4 pin connection still power the pci slots ?

Thanks for the help in advance.

what is the make & model# of the computer or motherboard? have you checked your user guide or motherboard manual?

Yeh i checked the manual but there isn't any specifics as to whether it would take a 4 pin instead of an 8 pin connecter.

Here's a link to my motherboard.

MSI Reminds You...
? All power connectors, ATX1 (24 Pin) & PWR1 (8 Pin, for CPU Power) & JPWR1 (4 pin, for PCI-E VGA) must be attached to this model to ensure operation of the Mainboard.
? A Power Supply of 450 watts, or above, is highly recommended for system stability.
? ATX 12V power connection should be 20A or greater.
does your psu meet the wattage requirements? the 4pin connector should be able to connect to the 8pin connector at pin1, is same as when using a 20pin connector on a 24 pin motherboard connector
