9 times out of 10 I can find all the answers to my tech questions online. In this case, I've found tons of answers...most don't completely reflect my situation and those that DO I can't understand what the heck they're talking about! :-D

Here's the situation:
I download tv shows online cuz my antenna reception sucks and I don't have cable. Anyway, most of the time the files are XviD encoded AVIs.
I've tried converting these files to mpeg2 with tmpenc with no luck. I think this may be because of the AC3 sound issue I've run across.
I have a program called Ulead DVD Workshop that WILL work, but it also takes nearly 7 hours to convert the 45 min AVI before it burns the DVD.

So, is there a good concise method to convert XviD to mpeg2 for use in DVD Workshop?

Thanks for your time and sorry for my extreme ignorance!!!
Matt

Just get ConvertXtoDVD and let it do the whole job. It has no problems with either AC3 or VBR audio. It's quick (less than real time of the clip) and the quality is very good. If you want you can import the resultant VOB's into Ulead.

A trial is available.

A VOB file can be changed to an MPG just by changing the extension, right?

So, I can change the VOBs to MPGs and then move them into Workshop to do a custom menu...sweet!

Thanks for the tip!!!

Sort of. That usually works. But dosn't Workshop have an 'Import Disc' option of some sort?
