I just bought Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and it won't load at all. When I do the normal start up it just tries to load and load and load and nothing happens. So I started it up, got the the XMB then put it in but still I just get the loading circle in the corner but it never loads. I put Virtua Tennis in there and the same thing happened. So is my UMD drive broken?

you could be saved. Dump the UMD using Fastloader and use the ISO with No-UMD mode activated. You said you were on SE-B, upgrade to SE-C and enable no UMD mode. You dont need a UMD in the drive to play the ISO now!

what if he had a UMD in his broken UMD drive and tried to load devhook. Do you think it would work? Probably not but it is worth a shot.

@ Frankie27
How is he supposed to use fastloader if his psp cannot detect UMD's?

Remember, apple in is not apple out...
It's poop.

Having a little trouble getting SE-C on there, it is a lot more confusing to me than SE-B.

I don't know what to do, it just says "If you are in a previous version of SE, simply copy the seupdmake, seupdmaker%, 271seflasher and 271seflasher% folders to
/PSP/GAME150 and follow the same instructions than when installing from 1.50."

But I don't see anything that says 'this is what you do when installing from 1.50'.

Creating the DXAR file
----------------------

- Inside MS_ROOT/PSP/GAME you will see 4 folders. Copy seupdmaker and seupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME/

- Get the 1.50 and 2.71 sony updaters in the seupdmaker folder with the names "150.PBP" and "271.PBP".

- Run the program. This program won't write to the flash, it will just create a file called DATA.DXAR in the
same directory (seupdmaker).

- Once that you have done this, you can save the DATA.DXAR file to skip this step in the future.

Flashing 2.71 SE
----------------

- Copy the files MS_ROOT/PSP/GAME/271seflasher and 271seflasher% to /PSP/GAME.

- Copy the generated DATA.DXAR file at 271seflasher directory.
This file, at release SE-A, should have ALWAYS the MD5 8E59FAAA97F526F8EC723D1B77700C2B
and SHA-1 15151DA906DAE508AABC668CA2FC65D9B541F02B

- Run the flasher. If your battery is less than 75%, the program will show the error saying that
and will return to the XMB.

- If you have enough battery, the program will continue and will show an agreement. Press X to accept
it and flash the custom firm, or R to cancel and exit to the XMB.

- If you accept, the program will flash the custom firmware. DONT shutdown the psp and DON'T
quit the memory stick.

- After finished, you psp will be rebooted to XMB... of 2.71

taken from an earlier realese but thats what you do

Yeah, I run 2.71 SE Update Maker and it says
"SE-C DXAR Update Maker by Dark_Alex.
Uses code of psardumper (PspPet) for extraction
Opening and checking 150.PBP
Cannot open file"

Edit: Oh, no there wasn't an option for no UMD
