Have you tried it to make sure it works (i'm just scared of bricking my psp) And is it the safest?

I downloaded the file but its files that you put on your psp. I was thinking of a .exe you run on your computer and it atomatically installs the firmware. Do you know of an .exe installer

There is an .exe installer but it does not install the firmware for you. It just copies the files to your memory stick.

But then you have to run the intaller on your PSP yourself by going to GAME-->Memory STick and selecting 2.71 SE-C Firmware Installer.
