Definitely the eVGA. Much better specs. I like that it has 6 SATA-II ports as opposed to the 4 of the Asus, among many other reasons.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

You'd be better off with the EVGA board with the newer chipset.
As for a SKT 775 board, its as good as anything out there.

Clocks very easily to 3.6, the E6600 is about the best overclocking CPU about at the moment, although some differ in performance depending on the batch number.

I just took the FSB to 400 and use x9 multiplier.

If you want to get the best overclock, then make sure that you memory can handle the speed you need to set on the FSB, i.e. my FSB is 400, so using DDR that makes the memory work at DDR800 with a 1:1 ratio set, don't use any other divider.

Most people hit problems with memory, motherboard or heat.
Usually it then just takes finding the best settings that work on a particular motherboard.

Other than that it is just upping the voltage on the CPU and chipset the handle the extra speed.
The 6600 should still manage over 3GHz without any voltage increase.
I've had mine up to nearly 4.2GHz but the system wasn't stable.

That in turn makes more heat so you need to think about getting a non stock heat sink to cool the CPU, its the heat that will kill it if anything.

I've been running 24/7 at 3.6 for a couple of months, and now the heating is on in my office that has still only raised the operating temp to a stable 35`C.

If you plan to get the EVGA board, it may be worth getting some DDR1000+ memory, as then you can set yourself up for FSB of 500 with memory running 1:1 and then if lucky using an x8 multiplier run at 4.0Ghz.

ok but i have got a Kingston 1024MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory . will that keep my cpu stable if i oc to 4.0ghz?

once you take you fsb above 333mhz, or however high you can push your ram, you will need to used dividers, which hampers performance slightly.

the overclocking thread is the place for this tho.

As just pointed out, you?ll be looking at a divider to get to that sort of freq.

You don't need to use a divider if your memory works at the speed associated with the FSB.

DDR800 = 2 x 400 FSB.
DDR1000 = 2x 500 FSB.
That?s why I said get the correct memory to compliment any intended overclock.

If you intend to use the same memory then you hit a wall way before getting near 4.0GHz as you are stuck with the x9 multiplier.

With DDR667 you'll get some increase above 333 FSB by increasing the memory voltage and relaxing the timings, but how far it can be pushed is something I couldn't even guess at.

If you managed 360 for example then you'd still get a CPU speed of 3.24GHz.

The best thing to do is to test your memory on your present board using memtest to see exactly how far it can be pushed, but remember it will only be a guide as some memory performs differently on various chipsets, you may get more or less than that on the new board.

Either way, it would perform perfectly well on the new board, and will at least keep you going until you feel you want to upgrade the memory in future.

Back to the EVGA vs. Asus, it worth noting that there are no actual factual reports on how well the Striker is working.

How therefore Asus have put the ridiculous premium price on the board is beyond me.

I would wait until you can see end user results with both boards before making the choice.

There's also the following board to think of as well.
Abit IN9 32X-MAX nForce 680 PCI-E
Gigabyte GA N680SLI-DQ6 nForce 680 SLI
