I have an asrock k8upgrade vm800 socket 754 mobo with an amd athlon 64 3000+ @2.2g1hz & have just ran sisoftware's sandra 2007 pro.

According to sandra, my motherboard bios needs updated.
I found the bios i need on the asrock site, but it doesnt tell me how to backup the bios or reflash it if it all goes pear shaped..

Also sandra also says smbios/dmi information may be inaccurate..
It also says FSB exceeds chipset rated speed & says large memory modules should be made of registered/buffered memory,
& they should be EEc/Parity..

I'm sure my memory is registered as its 2x1gb corsair twinx xms matching pair ddr400 pc3200 @ 3.3.3.8 latency..

Also sansra says my cpu can go from 1.6 - 2.4GHz & the cpu voltage is 1.52, my FSB is at 221 with a multiplier of 10..
It also says the temp of my mainboard & cpu is 38.0c/100.4f & 37.0c/98.6f & was wondering if this is high or ok..
I have a coolermaster hyper 6 100% copper heatsink/fan,
an antec case exhaust, a speeze hard drive cooler with 2 fans
& various other fans..

Does amyone have any advice for me as i have tested my cpu with
cpu-z for 24 hours on full load & have had no problems?

My pc is never off & i hardly ever have problems with it.
Since sandra says it can go to 2.4GHz, i was going to try this, but my multiplier doesnt let me go past 10.
I was going to reduce the FSB & increase the mulitiplier,
but after slecting the x11 multiplier & rebooting,
it just resets itself or fails to boot!!

any help is appreciated, thanks

P.S my uncle is having the same problem regarding the bios.
He has an intel p4 on a dfi lanparty pro875 rev a..

Thanks

I am not sure, but the BIOS file that you downloaded should ask you if you want to back up the original BIOS firmware, once you execute the new BIOS firmware file. Mine always did.

OK thanks mate, so i should just go ahead & update the bios?
What about overclocking the cpu a bit more?
How far can the 3000+ be overclocked to?

Thanks

I don't overclock, so one of the other good folks here, can help you on that.

Updating the BIOS is up to you. I have not ever had a problem updating mine. Just make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions.
