I am having problems with the dvds i rip from already ripped dvds. The problem is that when I rip a dvd that is a copy of the original, Its rips fine but when I watch the movie towards that middle of the movie it tends to freeze. Is there a fix for that.... My burning and ripping is done on shrink and nero6..... pls help!!!

Seems like you're using bad media.
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

using quality media is important to stop freezing, skipping or pixelations.
1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x).
2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual.
3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this:
http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php
4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk!
5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch!
6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better!
follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.

thanks for the tips...I was also wondering, I was reading something and it said to burn off MDS file... what does that mean and also, I thought that when I were to make an ISO file, I should burn the ISO file not the MDS... am i wrong or is there no difference...?

MDF and MDS files....... the MDF is the ISO! the MDS is a file that you load into the burning program that gives the program instructions to burn the MDF file!

there is no need to rip a movie thas allready been riped, if you just want to make a backup of your backup, just do a disk copy with, Nero or Blindwrite, or ashampoo, if you have a dvdrom and dvdwriter just put the disk in the reader, and thain put the blank into the writer, and hit copy and you have a great backup,if you don't have two drives just copy the disk to the hd, thain to the disk, how much easer could it be? hope that helps good luck happy burner have a nice day
