I am currently using Nero 7.0.1.4. I was wondering if there is a better version, newer or older. Thanks

I know that 6.6.0.18 is the most stable version in the 6 series; all others in this series is buggy.

Have heard that one version in the 7 series is good; don't recall which one though (I have 6.6.0.18 installed). If you decide to change versions, be sure to make a note of your S/N and use the Nero clean tool before installing the version of your choice. The clean tool(s) are found on the Nero site.

I use Nero 7.0.1.3 on one computer and an older version on another--6.0.1.18(don't quote me on this as I am doing this from memory). I like the Nero Ultra(version 7) because I use Nero Recode along with DvdFab decrypter. Nero Recode is very fast and works most of the time very well giving me very good quality backups. The older version of Nero is very stable and works very well with DVD Decrypter or dvdfab then I use DVD Shrink with the Nero 6 to burn. The only problem I have found with Nero 7 is that when using 1-16x dvds I cannot burn less than 6x or with 1-8x dvds only 4x or higher. I have never been able to figure out why or find anything to correct this foible. When I wish to burn at 1 or 2x, I use the older, version 6 Nero. I have not updated my original Nero 7 because of all the problems I read people are having. I guess, if your version works well for you, then "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I would suggest, however, that you check all of your burned backup copies with Nero speed check to see what quality you are getting. Even now, with probably a thousand backups under my belt, I still get some really crappy copies---even tho I now use Sony, Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim Datalife plus for most. Much of the quality really depends on the blank media you are burning to. Always buy quality media. This forum is really a wonderful place to find answers to questions and problems. I have been saved a few times from tearing my hair out(what little I still have) by some really fine individuals at Afterdawn.com. All you have to do is ask.

Maybe because this is not a "foible", as you put it, that needs no correcting.
