Dvd player for burning DVDS

I have a Panosonic E20 dvd recorder, but as i found out not all players can be used in combination with a decoder to record dvds.
My current Apex 800 + Decoder doesnt work.
A old Aiwa Hand Held player(5.7inch screen) + decoder work great, but no optical out.

Anyone know what players will play dvds and allow them to be recorded? Maybe there are websites.
