hi all

can anyone twll me what RCE protection is? and what it is used for as dvd shrink is supposed not to be able to sort this out on dvd backups?

RCE is a form of regional protection found on some DVD's, mainly Region 1. Unlike regular Regio encoding, it can be found in the VOB's as well as the regular VIDEO_TS.IFO file. The RCE, it stands for Regional Coding Enhancement i think, and it goes along with regular DVD region encoding. The whole purpose of it is to prevent people with mulit-regional DVD players from playing region encoded discs. I think you will ony find them on Region 1 Warner Bro's or Columbia DVD's. If you found it on a DVD other than this let us know.
