nero recode crashing

I burned about 4-5 dvd's with no problem but now when it gets 30-40 % done it stops or crashes. Im using XP 2.8 ghz, 512 ram and 100g hd.

you have the same BenQ 1655 burner and your firmware is old! update firmware from BCGB to BCIB:

just put in 1655 in the search and you'll see the update on the firmware.

you are using poor media. Moser Bear (MBI) is crappy media! Get better media! follow the MIJ (Made In Japan) look for MIJ on the label of the box or spindle. Verbatim is the only exception..... they are top notch but made in Taiwan/Singapore.
you are using a version of Nero that isn't the most stablest version of Nero 6.... update Nero to version 6.6.0.18 which is what I use and is the stablest version of Nero 6:
Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up and defrag...... then reboot!
install package one:
ftp://ftp1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
highlight this address and paste it into the address bar!
then install package two:
http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!

this means that Nero didn't do it's job ...... could be a buggy Nero 6 version .... you have 6.6.0.14....do the update to 6.6.0.18! as stated above!

this is the reason to update to version 6.6.0.18
so let's review:
1. update your firmware
2. use better media
3. update your Nero 6 to version 6.6.0.18
do this and you will get better results!

Just to add to IHoe's advice:
Direct burning: true
Turn off Burn at Once - better to let Nero save temporarily to the hard drive 1st then let it start the burn.
It will save you some discs since Nero is having a problem doing this movie cause of this An unknown error occurred in the VOB encoder.
Which movie are you doing and what are you using like AnyDVD running in the background or ripping to the hard drive 1st?

I have 4-5 movies saved to hard drive. I tried different movies with the same results. Nothing usually runs in the background except maybe a web browser. I have noticed that if I burn the movie only and not all the extras it will burn til complete.

What are you using to rip the movies to the hard drive?
Looking like something is amiss in the ripping - reason Nero is throwing the error.

Using the latest DVDFab decrypter - 3.0.5.0? If not update to that one.
May need to re rip these and try again if you weren't using the latest version.
Here's a guide also for DVDFab and using VobBlanker and/or FixVTS. You can try running the files thru these programs then opening those files in Shrink.
