Thats true, though there are reports that sony are working on an 8x drive as well. I don't see the DVR107 being released for another 4 months anyway. It will be released just before christmas. I think Pioneer have released that Sony are loosing out to them because of their very high prices. Pioneers are the best selling DVD Writers in the UK.

although that vpower is having a bit of an issue with his 106? could be hardware related though? or faulty drive? not sure? but mine works fine! at 4x!!!

Hey i also have a brand new Pioneer 106 burner. I am having no problems at 4x with Verbatim DVD-R +R. The only thing i see is with the Nero time hack i see it write at 3.5x and have this error in the result log.

Sony is just a stupid company. I decided some months ago that I'll never buy anything where stands text SONY.

Reason? They use Key2Audio and lame copy protections on their audio CD's (Sony Music)...

I use DVD Decrypter to rip the entire movie in file mode and then use DVD Shrink 2.3 to remove the unecessary things i dont need to fit it in a DVD- or + R and use Nero 5.5 to burn it on the A06. I never see 4x i only see up to 3.6x. and the Queing errors in the log. Should i upgrade the firmware.

thanks,
Max

It will remove all region coding from your Drive enabling you to play/rip movies from other regins all the time without fear of the drive being permantently locked.

The Pioneer DVD-120 is ripping 1 layer up to 12x and 2 layer dvd's up to 10x. The liteon 166s rips the 1 layer up to 16X and single layer up to 11x. Not bad huh..
