problems with burning

Nero was working great for me for months and then all of a sudden, I get several errors. First, when I try to burn some DVD's it will say something about the VOB being to big. Then, it will let me start to burn others (with Recode), but when I put in the blank disc, it has an error message saying that the disk isn't found. I tried then to burn first to the hard drive (which worked) and then use recode to burn from the hard drive to the DVD. I then get the following error:
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Turn off burn at once - let Nero encode the files 1st then it will start the burn.
Nero API version: 6.3.1.18
Nero can use an update - update to 6.6.0.18

Older drive looking like the last firmware update was in 2004. May be a newer one - laptop drive that came w/ it? You can check the manufacturers site and see if there is a newer one.
Disc Manufacturer ID: OPTODISC
Not the best discs but your drive does seem to recognize them from displaying the media codes in this log.
The drive not recognizing them at times may be a sign the drive is on the way out. Try better media like Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell. For this drive look for 8x or lower.
