Movie: Sahara
DvdFabDecrypter to full movie and burn to dvd9=Perfect
DvdFabDecrypter to movie only: Get 5.88GB VIDEO_TS and shrink with either Recode or Shrink to 4.38GB=Perfect.
Tried Recode to convert full movie from DVD9 to DVD5, Keeps crashing with about 10 min. left..
Run through Fixvts and VobBlanker ane retry..
Recode finishes conversion without crashing..YAY! 4.25GB
Go to burn in Nero Express, Load the VIDEO_TS files and click burn..Get all the warnings about not being complliant, says missing compatible .IFO and .BUP file.. AAARRGGHH!
Why does this have to be so difficult? I know how to use the programs, have studied all the guides from here and other sites and still get zapped somewhere in the process!

Hi mmraam
Which version of DVDFab are you using? The latest is 3.0.5.0.
Which option in Express are you using? DVD-Video option?

Not a fab problem..Have latest version..
In express using DVD-Video option, that's where I get the burn error
about the missing compatible .IFO and .BUP files..
For some reason it seems as though Recode isn't updating those files on conversion with the new structure on them. The IFO and BUP files are there but just not right for some reason..

It sounds like something did go wrong in the rip though w/ DVDFab _ Recode should usually be able to handle these w/o running thru FixVTS or VobBlanker 1st.
It was a problem for some setups w/ earlier versions of DVDFab so hopefully 3.0.5.0 fixed it for most.
It really shouldn't be this difficult. Just can't put my finger on what's going on - I'm missing something.
What happens if you burn w/ Recode instead of saving to the hard drive?
May want to give RipIt4Me a go - you can use Recode in place of Shrink if you like. Here's a guide.
Here's one more guide I don't know if you've seen - may help w/ DVDFab.

Let us know how that turns out.
Try RipIt4Me too - sweet program and free. It's updated to handle the newer stuff.
Not sure if Shrinkto5 is - don't use it.

mmraam,
I truly hate recode it never works properly, it always falls over or when it's done the quality is so crap I would even let the kids watch it.
Just use shrink.

Binkie..
Shrinkto5 Basic (Freeware) worked perfect..
It took the full version of Sahara 7.79GB and converted it (in standard mode) to a DVD5
4.21GB with all the menus, extras etc. intact! Playing it on my home dvd as I type! Took about 2 hrs to convert..Shrinkto5 now has a pro version so they took away the adware from the free version..5 *****'s
from me!! Recode and Shrink are pretty much history for me now!

I'm glad that did the trick for you mmraam!
Txs for posting what worked for you.
Me though I'm still sticking w/ my little arsenal - mainly AnyDVD w/ Clone, Shrink or Recode or RipIt4Me, DVDFab Decrypter and Decrypter.
Been doing me good for awhile :)
2 hrs it a bit long though but if that was your time before all may be okay - pc specs play into the time it will take for 1 thing.
Happy Burning!!
