I've been using Nero without a problem for a couple of years and then out of the blue it is playing up with illegal disc error. my log file is below, if anyone can help I'd be grateful. If I've left out any info please ask.

Thanks!

Hi leedx7
Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DW-U18A> Version: UYS1
Older drive looking like the last support on it was 2004. It's a rebadged LiteOn SOHW-812S. So for this drive try taking the burn down to 4x. Ritek GO5's are usually pretty good.
May want to give different a media a go to see if it's the drive itself going.
Try Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

DiskPeripheral : HDS722525VLAT80 nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DW-U18A nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : SONY CD-RW CRX300E nvatabus Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off

Nero doesn't report correctly on Nvidia so check and make sure all drives are in DMA mode & not PIO. Here's a guide to get you in the right direction.

Physical memory : 511MB
Free physical memory: 19MB
Memory in use : 96

Way too much memory in use so no multi tasking and close any unneeded programs.
Also if you haven't very recently run a registry cleaner like the free ccleaner. Use the cleaner and issues options.
Do a disc defrag too along w/ virus & spyware scans.

File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS'
Nero's InCD can sometimes cause problems - so if you're not using it uninstall it and run the clean tool.

Give those a go and let us know.

I am no expert but it looks to me like you don't have enough free memory.

Just to say thank you for the help.

It was the memory - I was infected with about:blank a few weeks back and installed a load of anti-spyware stuff (relying of adaware and spymaster was obviously not enough! ;-))

It seems this new spyware was chewing my memory on startup. Problem solved and Nero acting ok.

Thanks to the guys/gals who helped me.

Not a problem leedx7
Glad to here you got it sorted out.

Yep that's one thing spyware/viruses/ trojans etc will do.
Need to run real time anti virus protection plus a firewall.
Adaware is good to run weekly but doesn't give you real time protection.

Check out this link for good anti virus and firewalls - some of the best ones are free. Can't beat that :)
