Hi, I have 2 of the same versions of Nero 6.6.018 on a laptop running winxp home, and on a MediaCenter desktop. The desktop (which also has NVIVDA purevideo decoders installed) is fine- I can take DVR.MS files import them into NVE, edit and compress and burn them fine. When I attempt this with the same files over the network to the laptop, NVE starts up, everything is fine, burn completes, but all I get is audio on the DVD no video. Or, I get a minute or less of video and then a black screen and the audio only. These are off the cable box southpark episodes that I burn so I can watch them upstairs on TV set.
I then noticed after trying several more times that during the encode process, the video in the preview window does the same thing right after it starts, I see like the first 30 secs os and all of a sudden it goes black screen.
Anyone have any idea? The clips arent even "protected" (in the MCE sense of the word).
Thanks. Going nuts here.

They kinda are protected (in the MCE sense of the word) that dvr.ms is a media center file. I dont know if it will work as I dont run mce, but have you tested installing the sonic mpeg encoder that comes in mce on the xp system? Google for SonicMPEGEncoder.msi and you should find the installer as well as a lot of talk about it.

(EDIT) Remember to set a restore point before installing it in case unwanted things happen to xp home installing it.

Thanks for the reply. I had read about the Sonic encoder screwing with NERO's ability to function. I do know that on the MCE desktop if NVIDIA PUREVIDEO is the default encoder, Nero fails unless I use the codec checkup utility to force Nero as the preferrd DVD decoder. So it made sense to me to stay away from the SONIC encoder (which I deleted from the MCE system). Funny thing also is that I can burn DVD's from MCE desktop even though SONIC is not present (and MCE says the dvd burning utility is provided by sonic solutions? I dont ever have SONIC software on the MCE pc!).
But the laptop having the "no video on disk" problems ONLY has Nero decoders installed? I am baffled.
