I don't understand what on earth is going on. My Pioneer DVD player was always able to play any burned movie, now it won't. The image breaks up, etc. I have cleaned the tray, and wiped off any dust on the dvd's. It is playing non burned dvds perfectly fine. The weird thing is though is that it has been able to play burned dvds for the past year and now nothin. If anyone can help that would be really appreciated.

did you change media? or your burn speed? or the format from DVD dash R to DVD plus R ?

using Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim bunring at 4x or no faster than 8x reduces your chances of bad palyback

or if your using the DVD plus R format booktype then to DVD-ROM

I changed media about 6 months ago. I went from maxell DVD-R to phillips DVD-R. They have never given me a problem before. I didn't change my burn speed.

For example, I have Back to the future backed up. It played before on my dvd player but now no. And its the same dvd player.

the phillips is probably low grade media . put it in DVD Identifier and post what it codes out as.

try using Verbatim and burn at 4x if they won't play it sounds like your DVD player is going bad

Heres your problem

Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [CMC MAG. AM3]

they may have coded out different 6 months ago but the CMC mag = worst media on the market.

as said get Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim and burn at 4x

I agree with what the abc guy said except for the burn at 4x thing. If you have 16x media, you can safely burn at 8x.. and it is widely debated that you can burn at the full 16x. I personally burn 16x Verbs at full speed and have not had one failure because of it.You can read more about it here.

Do your burned DVDs play on a different stand alone player?
