ok I was on here before and went through some solutions that were suggested. I did the roxio zapper, the pio solution (not even sure why my primary ide is showing up twice on my computer), and the flash "doohickey" thing to my dvd drive (firmware. my dvd drive came with my computer.) Now to note on the pio solution, when I uninstalled the drives to the ide, my computer wouldnt boot back to windows so i had to use the last good configuration boot. ok, so i tried to burn ice age 2. the first time it said failure to read %s. ok the second time around, i recoded just the main movie. that went fine until....WRITE ERROR!!!! what is going on. im about to give up on Nero. i went and bought 2 different burners. tried one (a sorry version im assuming of dvd copy dvd to cd/dvd from best buy) and roxio easy cd/dvd which i havent installed yet. someone look at my log and let me know what is going on before i remove this program off my computer. the other only solution right now that i can think of is to buy and external dvd write drive and buy a new internal dvd write drive (which im looking in the market for. any suggestions on a good one????) ugggg, i dont know. anyhoo, here is my log!

Thanks Gwendolin for answering my post. ok when I try to update my firmware for my drive I get a warning that says: "NO MATCH DRIVE DETECTED! This utility is only for LITEON DVD RW SOHW 1633S drive. Detected drives"0-0-0-0 D: LITE ON DVD RW SOHW 1633S BPSA 0-0-1-0 E: ASUS CD-S480/A5 0.99"

Maybe the firmware is connected to what country you are from. Try downloading it from whatever site you get when you go to liteonit.com.
And, you might try to get the DMA for your hard drive turned on. I am not sure why you seem to have the hard drive on the secondary IDE channel and the other drives on the primary. Was it set up that way when you got the computer?

ok Here is my last log from the last time I tried to burn and this is after I installed the more stable Nero. I wasn't multitasking or anything and I did stop some things from running in the background too to see if that would help. I also checked to make sure I saw Ultra... and not pio mode before I started. Now I did try to burn the same movie on my husband's computer. He has 2 brand new write drives and 1 gb of ram and and error message came up. I saved the log but forgot to transfer it onto my computer. I will post that later when I can get to it. I dont know. Maybe I should get more ram. only 512 on my puter. ok here is my log:

Oh yeah btw, still can't do anything about updating the firmware. I tried it again before I came on the site here. I posted the error message a few blocks up. `
