I am unable to rip a film on a DVD-R disc.
I usually use DVD Decrypter but i cannot use it with this disc. When
Decrpter loads the file after putting the disc in the drive i get I/O Errors immediatley.
If i ignore them it will rip it until it gets a 3rd of the way throught the last VOB And then i get more I/O Errors and it wont let me ignore them, they just go on and on.
I installed AnyDVD ver 6.0.9.9 which gave me this info......

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.0.9.9)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 2

Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: DVD-R (version 5), Layers: 1
Total size: 2097151 sectors (4095 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: MUTILADOS
Media is not CSS protected.
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1 4!

RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Found & removed fluxDVD protection!
Found & removed bogus title set!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Found & removed 4 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

As you will now know this is a backup. It is on a Verbatim DVD-R which has a capacity of 4.3gb yet the properties show it as having 5.07gb......strange !
Can anyone tell me how a backup can have copy protection on it ?
I thought all that would be taken out before or during copying ?
Also you may have noticed that the disc is also Region Protected, Regions 1 and 4 ?

So my main problem is that i cannot rip this film to my Hdd in order to rip out all the stuff i dont want, i just want movie only.
Could anyone please offer any assistance or should i just bin it ?

Thank you.

Keep it. I think all you need is a simple DVD ripper. Try Xillisoft DVD Ripper Platinum or some other one. If that don't work then I think HD-DVD's arn't rippable. Unless aXXo comes out with one.

maybe try DVDFab Decrypter (free), it's possible that AnyDVD isn't able to do this movie yet, maybe DVDFab can't yet - http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

@Xch4ng3 - dunno quite what HD-DVD has to do with anything ?. And there's no need for Xillisoft DVD Ripper Platinum when there's free tools that can do the job in conjunction with AnyDVD

Main PC ~ Intel C2Q Q6600 (G0 Stepping)/Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3/2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500/Zalman CNPS9700/Antec 900/Corsair HX 620W
Network ~ DD-WRT ~ 2node WDS-WPA2/AES ~ Buffalo WHR-G54S. 3node WPA2/AES ~ WRT54GS v6 (inc. WEP BSSID), WRT54G v2, WRT54G2 v1. *** Forum Rules ***

I tried DvDFab and it told me it had problems reading Vob_4 (dirty or scratched) the disc is in pristine condition, not a mark on it. It got stuck on 93.2%, so i told it to ignore all and 2 hours later i went back to it and it was on 95% so i aborted.
Could the problem be in the original rip, i.e. not ripped correctly ?
Upto now i have tried the following s/ware....
Dvd Decrypter versions - 3.1.7.0 and 3.5.4.0
AnyDvd ver 6.0.9.9
xilisoft dvd ripper ver 1.1.1.2
DVDFabDecrypter ver 3.0.5.0
FixVTS1.6
Surely there must be some software i can use for this, if not it's going in the bin.

Thank you.
