I have just assembled a computer and i have have the gigabyte 7600gs graphics card. During games, which i have tried more than one, it crashes at random points and i get a "rrrrrrrrr" sound out of the speakers, then a blue screen followed by a reboot.
Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?
Thankyou.

I have two questions that need to be answered first before we can pinpoint the problem.
1.What are your system specs??
2.What are the games requirements??
This should help us solve the problem...

My System Specs are:
Intel core 2 duo e6400
gigabyte ga-965p-ds3
1gb generic 667
gigabyte 7600gs 256 pci-e
320gb hard drive
gigabyte pci wireless card
coolermaster 550w power supply
.. I think that's all you need to know...
I have recently updated my nvidia drivers and my wireless drivers.
Last time i got the error was when i was playing "Age of mythology" but it has also happened when playing "Lord of the rings battle for middle earth" and "Call of jaurez"
I went to event viewer under system and it had:
Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 f6d07a3e.
I also sent the error report to microsoft and it pointed towards the RAM and gave me a memory tester app. I left this to run through on extended tests and it had 5 passes without errors.
I do not know what could be wrong everything is new.
I'm thinking it's either one of the drivers on my computer or the "Generic Ram."

It maybe the generic ram as elokito said. Have you thought about reinstalling the program too see if the problem continues??

its the ram since its happening on more programs try with another one OR put a fan inside the computer that blows air towards the ram since the ram is probaly heating itself too much after playing those games causing the erros

I have already reformatted and reinstalled windows along with the games as well. And the ram tests showed no problems.

ok i ran the test and what a surprise!
no less than 1386 errors were found when test 5 finished running.
I don't know what this means or what i have to do next.
i don't think it's the heat, i have a very cool case and lots of fans.
When i started the computer after that it crashed again straight away this time having just logged into windows. with this error windows was not able to determine what it was. but the came under the log:
Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 bf8363e5, parameter3 ba4f8c68, parameter4 00000000.
This came with no blue screen anymore, just sudden reset.
What do i do now?

My advise would be to change your ram sticks.

Well if the generic one did not work for you in the first place i would go with the brand names.

just another question, in perfectly working ram there would be no errors, would 1 error make a difference? i mean if i bought new ram i would expect it to have no errors, would i be right in saying this? So if you guys tested your ram there would be no errors...
Well anyways im taking my ram back tomoz and getting a stick of samsung memory, hopefully that will solve my problems...

its my ram not my video card cause my video card has inbuilt silent pipe design with no fan. How annoying though all my parts were new, i guess the cheap generic ram came back to bite me in the ass. never buy cheap stuff is the lesson learnt here.
Thanks to everybody who helped!

ZOMG! i was just playing age of mythology with my new ram stick which i got today and it did the same thing as before (restarted without warning, then when windows started up it said serious error).
i did a ram test and it had 9 errors. my last ram stick had errors too. im wondering is there anything im doing wrong eg. putting the ram in wrong or in the wrong slot etc. or is it purely the rams fault?
