State whether DMA is on or off on your DVD Writer and state why you have it like this.

Mine was off, worked fine, its now on, works fine.

Turned mine on, doesn't affect burning but it helps with ripping; 3-4 times faster.

(I know what you're thinking..... "Get off your wallet Ken and buy a DVD-ROM!)

All the bruning info you need to start is here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9dvd2one

Its strange though. I have read many problems that have been fixed by either turning the DMA on or turning it off. Does it one know why this would be a problem, considering Windows98 doesnt even have the feature and DVD Writers work fine with them.

My Windows 98 laptop has that option. But when I turned it on the drive wouldn't even read anymore.

I think some of the newer version came with it but i dont think the original had it as i have seen patches for installing them for 98. The fact that it didnt work when it was turned on leaves me wondering why it does sometimes, and doesnt other times. I hope a techy wizard visits this thread.
