Please help here. My computer wont read my dvd drive, but my cd drive was working well, now it doesnt even recognize that?? What should i do my drive opens and closes but doesnt recognize anything, it doesnt show up in device manager!!
-Restart computer
-while restarting press F8 repeatedly
-load in SAFE MODE
-right-click on My Computer
-click on Properties/Hardware/Device Manager
-expand the CD/DVD driver by clicking on +
-Delete EACH one of the drivers named (right click..delete)
----**Do not restart computer yet, wait!**
-each of the CD/DVD driver should dissappear from the tree
-find IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers
-Delete each one of them the same way
----**SEE WARNING ABOVE**
-all the controllers might, or might not dissapear as you delete them..just make sure you get them all
-after the last one, restart
-load normal
-when you get to your desktop it should start reloading your drivers again...let them finish
-test it.
Thanks for the help, I got it to work again, but I don't know why, but i just switched the IDE cables and it seemed to read again...stange, but I got it to work finally!!
