you either need the [m3 lite perfect (not pro, no gba functionality) and passcard3] or the [m3 lite perfect (again, not pro) and m3 ds simply] to accomplish all you listed.
to clarify, the m3 lite perfect's capabilities...
(without passme [the passcard3 in this case]):
-play media (vid, mp3,etc.)
-emulate older consoles
-play gba backups without any patching
-run homebrew (for gba)
-this will work on a gba (if ya can insert it...)
(with passme [passcard3*]):
-emulate even more older consoles i believe
-play nds backups with patching
-run homebrew (for nds)
*note: the simply can act as a passme also.
bringing me to my next point...
the m3 ds simply's abilities are**:
-play media (vids, mp3, etc.)
-run nds homebrew
-play nds backups with NO patching
-emulate games
-act as a passme
**note: these are supposed since its not out yet.
as you can see the m3 lite can act as a standalone gba cart. however, with a passme, the m3 lite can access more of your ds and its features from the gba slot (get it? pass... as in access...).
the ds simply, on the other hand, is a standalone nds cart capable of running 99% (if not 100%) of all nds backups and homebrew since it needs no patching. it also has features brought over from the m3 lite (media, emulation, etc.), but it can not run gba games since it is restricted to slot 1 (that's where the m3 lite comes in handy since its also a passme).
had to do a lil research on the fw5 thing... didnt know...
well now, these mods should be compatible with ALL ds's i believe. they are made to "act" as a real game (cartridge hacks are easier than optical disks i guess, thats understandable since the software is also hardware), thus the ds will recognize it as one.

jgarces07:The shoulder buttons on my DS (not Lite) are not working. Any advice?
nintenut:This is going to sound a bit odd, but it works, put your lips around the trigger and blow really hard, it works.
bee_cup: My DS Lite L button don't work...
nintenut: Put your mouth on it and blow, gets the dust out, and sounds obscene!
