hi guys

can i use a 4 gb memory stick straight up to perform this downgrade to 1.5?? as previous post seem to suggest that v1.5 does not recognize 4 gb ms.

No but you can use your 32MB card, just completely wipe it.
If downgrading a TA-082 i would suggest upgrading to 3.03 (if not at that already) and use NOOBZ downgrader.

Am not sure about the 2gig... try it, and if all else fails get a loan of a 1gig stick or lower do your down/upgrade, once on 3.03OE-C you can use your 4gig.

@koonloon, it wont brick but it may hang, try running some homebrew from your 2gig first before down/upgrading, if it runs smooth your set. ;P

@weirdoku, thats correct.
Just use the proper downgraders and read the instructions carefully or risk a brick.

@sudds, thanks for the reply, but now there's something bothering me, why cant you just upgrade straight to 3.10 oe-a? is it because the hen-d stuff counts as homebrew so you can only run it on a 1.5 Fw?

hi jonnyme

sorry not to reply earlier. I have actually try the new 2 giga and to put it simply i was successful with my 1st psp but please wait.

i seem to experience a fair few weird reactions during the process. i don't know whether if its normal cos its not in the guide at all.
These are the weird ones, after rebooting, guide says go back to the usb connection and from the Game folder i couldnt go quickly as each press of the left arrow causes a black out of around 55-59 secs wait, at times longer and i have to do manual reboot.

Also guide says it will take u back to the xmb but i get the black screen and no response at all. About 3 mins later i try manual reboot, nothing , took the battery out then in again, nothing
i actually gave up thinking i've got a brick and started packing up while unplugging the power adapter, screen just came back to life.

The overall response is very slow and kinda confusing too.

Oh, then i use this same 2 giga to downgrade my 2ND psp and with 7 attempts to load HEND without any success. Fearing the worse i stopped. Then i found n used a 32mb ms from my mobile phone, sony ericsson, and HEND loaded up straight away and smoothly down to 1.5.

As i try to upgrade to 3.03 OEC, 32MB was too small. And you what, i put the 2 giga in to try and amazingly it works.
Now both my psp are 3.03 OEC and im definitely happy about it.
I personally is not too keen about using this 2 giga HI-SPEED cos they truly drive me nuts.

cheers

Hey everyone. I bought my first PSP about a week ago and after quaking in my shoes about the possibility of bricking my PSP, I decided to take the plunge and downgrade.

I just want to add to the information Koonloon provided regarding downgrading using a 2gig memory stick. My PSP didn't come with any memory stick, I don't know anyone with a 32MB pro duo, and I wasn't about to wait buy ordering or going out to buy one. So...I decided to use one of my 2GB memory sticks I bought with tmy PSP and take a shot at it anyway after reading about Koonloon's sluggish experience.

Note: I actually decided to use a FAKE 2GB memory stick. (atleast, I believe it's fake from the information I have gathered so far).

So here's what happened:

- I completed all the general downgrade steps like you normally would, up to the point where the PSP restarting and gave me a blue screen

- After all was said and done, I received the blue screen, after which I pressed "O".

- This brought me back to the initial setup screen you get when you turn on your PSP for the first time, asking you to enter you nickname, time zone, etc.

- While in these menus, I started to experience the sluggish response that Koonloon was talking about, where when you press any button at all, the screen will go black for about 50 seconds or so. I decided to speed up the process by simply skipping all the information and leaving it all default.

- So eventually I got to the main menu, and found that it was still responding extremely slowly after any one single button press. I was slightly worried that my PSP will be stuck in this very slow state.

- I went ahead and tried manually restarting my PSP by sliding the power switch, and then taking the memory stick out. I'm not sure if taking out the memory stick makes any difference, but I did it anyway.

- The PSP was still slow after starting it up again. After siding the power switch one more time, the power light came on but it still took a bit for the menu to display.

- Eventually, it did come back on and.... voila! The response is back to normal and I have myself a 1.50 PSP on a TA-082 motherboard! :)

I hope that helps any questions you guys might have had. If anyone needs me to clarify anything I said, ask away.

hey guys, i just got a PSP last week and it was unfortunately a TA-082 with FW 2.60. I've been debating if i should downgrade my PSP to 1.5 and risk bricking it.
I've been reading alot of stuff about downgrading and i've see alot of success following this method that touran22 posted.

i have my PSP ready to for the downgrade process and im wondering if anyone can give me a hand while i do this. I gotta upgrade my PSP from 2.6 to 2.71 then down to 1.5 using this guide. if anyone can hang around here to reply me that'd be nice.
also, i have a 1gb sandisk MS formatted. so should i put the 2.71 upgrade file into my MS from my comp and then load it using PSP to do the upgrade procedure?

[Edit] i've managed to get FW to 2.71 now.. proceeding with downgrade.

[Edit] PSP downgrade to 1.5 was successful. now that i have 1.5 FW, what suggestion do you guys have on which 3.xx FW i should upgrade to so that i can play homebrew and iso w/o having to use devhook?

need some input here cause im abit confused.

My 2GB memory sticked worked fine.

I just used this guide and I had no problems nor any slowdown issues, but yeah Koonloon, like you said, I guess your stick was fake. I had read somewhere that there are some fake Sony branded memory sticks being sold, so I bought a SanDisk 2 gig memory stick duo from a reputable online store.

Anyway, just wanted to mention that with 2gig memory stick (real ones) work well, just incase anyone was scared to use their 2 gig ms.

Thanks again Touran for this guide. Really helped me out. I was scared to downgrade because I had read people had problems with 2 gig ms cards, but I'm glad I tried it out cause it was a piece of cake.
