If you go to one of my posts above - it has all the hyper links to the clean tools. Just click on them :)
Yeah I would switch the drive to master and the rom to slave. Not a bad idea there.
Maybe you should have picked up a new ide cable from newegg. A bad cable can be one reason the drive slips into pio mode. And if this was happening w/ the other drive - maybe why.
Oh and not a problem on the help :)

Try using the booktype utility in DVD Decrypter or imgburn. Tools/drive/change booktype. Select lite-on/change: drive (for DVD+R media - eeprom). New setting: dvd-rom. Click change then it should say sucess. You can do the same for DVD+R DL and DVD+RW
Edit: I'm a little late posting this as I got busy in the middle of posting so ignore this if the bitsetting problem is resolved.

Change the burner to cable select too since it's a Dell (txs garmoon)
Then I would uninstall the ide channel they're on & reboot.

yeah, i got it all working now. I found that dell has a force DMA program that i ran and it now works great. Both drives are on cable select and all seems to be working well. my only question is how can i check to see if the dvd's are being burnt as DVD-ROM's?

Nevermind. I always ask questions too soon. My drive is setting them as DVD-ROM's so everything is working great. Thanks a ton for your help blinkie and as for the drive...
The LH-20A1P works great!! It is very quiet when i burn at 4x. quieter than my old burner. It is not that bad, in my opinion, when burning at a high speed. Not any louder than my old emprex burner. SO all in all, i love the drive and thanks for the referal to this brand..

@kstepan50
You're welcome :)
Glad you got it all sorted out and are happily burning.
I wonder why 2 reviews had the drive was loud - maybe they have very sensitive hearing - who knows :)
Happy New Year all!
