Hello. Okay, so I have a Spongebob DVD that I got recently and have been using DVD Shrink 3.2 to burn certain episodes easily with the re-author option and then watch the .vob files with wmp. No problem, but the thing is I have realized the file sizes are too big. For a 12 minute episode, I got 450MB .vob file. After burning about eight episodes, the file sizes ranged in the 400s for these 12 minute episodes.
I did a search on limewire for spongebob episodes, and people had them down to 120MB with compression it seems like. There isn't or I wasn't able to use any compression option in DVD Shrink 3.2 so I turned to Nero Startsmart that I also had. I found how to backup an entire disc, but when I try doing certain parts, it gets very confusing. In Shrink, you can preview the specific files you want to backup, but in Nero that isn't there and all the files are jumbled together in the disc. Does anyone know how I can burn only the parts I want from this disc with Nero to my harddrive for viewing. I have tried searching, and am also sorry since this post kind of goes both in the Nero and Shrink discussion. Thanks for any help

If you want to use Nero for this. Use recode compile dvd option. The part that says open video source or whatever it is it says that means the same. Just select your dvd drive then select what title sets you want. There is a preview screen to be sure tee titles are the ones you want.

Thanks. Well, the Nero verison I have doesn't have that option and I have searched all over it. What are the other methods if I didn't want go the Nero path? All I need is a program that can single out episodes(titles as you mentioned), and then compress to a reasonable size(less than 400mb). I've looked at the software tab here but can't figure out which ones would be good.

Your best bet is going to be dvdshrink. Just open shrink then click on reauthor, then double click on your dvd drive, then drag the titles to the compilation window. When you get the title sets you want there select the compresions tab on the right side. Select each title then on the right change it fron automatic to custom compresion, then set it to whatever compresion you want it to be. Do this for each title.

They are most likely Xvids. They will have to remain that way to maintain the small size. If you wanted these on a playable DVD the resultant size would be considerably larger when converted.
