whats your price range?

I would go for Nvidia cards since they are most popular and powerful

If your price range is about £300 (dont knw how much is in USDollars) i would go for the BFG Geforce 8800GTS..
For a cheaper card like around £160 - Geforce 7900GT

I had ati once but it sucked lol.. maybe it's just my pc sucked too much

$140 hmm.... in UK thats about £72.
Not enough to get a good graphics card but i guess with £20 extra, you can get the Geforce 6800 - i got that!

It's not bad performance though it does lag when trying to run high setting games like NFS carbon lol..
Games like World of Warcraft, Counter-strike Source and HL2 can run like a charm on high settings with HDR effects :)

So... my conclusion is to save that extra cash for something that can last you for a long time..

I bought a 7900gs on dabs yesterday for myself for £107 a steal at that price imo

http://www.dabs.ie/ProductView.aspx?Quic...37,14&InMerch=1 shipping £8

Ive seen some 7600gt for £60 on ebay including shipping £68 which is a brillant price for a very good card if you overclock it your laughing they will play every game well. The price is so low that you could sell it for the same price in 6 months and upgrade to it for a £140 dx10 card for £80 you cant lose imo.

Sorry mate never read your from the us anyway you can get a very good 7600gt for $130 on newegg which is a good card much better than the 1650pro and 6800gt your looking at.I would recommend giving the extra $20 though and get the Ati x1900gt which is a great card and there is interesting software coming for it in the future that could in theory turn it into a beast of a card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130062 7600GT $130

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102022 Ati x1900gt $150

http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-ATI.html could be incredible if it works

I just got a computer for christmas its a dell 4300 about 5-6 years old. It has a p4 intel 1.4ghz and 512ram. I don't want to put alot of money into the computer so I was just going to get a decent video card and a new power supply because it only is a 250watt which can't power a new video card.

I was looking to spend 130-140$USD.

Since it is only 512 ram and I can't upgrade because that is all the mobo supports I was hoping that a 512mb video card would help the preformance in some way.

The PNY 6800gt is DDR3 256mb were the x1650 512mb is DDR2. These are just two cards im looking at can anyone suggest a better video card for the money preferably 512mb for 130-140$USD.

Thank You
