HI all,
Not too long ago, I made a poast asking about which programs to use to convert .avi to dvd format or .. whatever format would play in a dvd player. Someone tol dme to use ConvertXtoDVD which works great. It plays in the DVD player without a hitch. The only thing is, I have it set to high quality settings and I run nothing else on my computer when I convert the files ... but it seems to show a bit 'blocky' sometimes.. I hope someone know what I mean when I say 'blockky' Is there any other program (preferably a free one) that I could use with to make the quality a little better? It isn't my dvd player, I've burned lots of DVDs that look fine and these arn't bad..but it would be better if I could the blocky bits out. Tahnks.
Sounds like your media and/or burn speed. Use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or any made in Japan. Here is a guide to look over: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm Try your burns at 4x and experiment from there, 1/2 the media's rated speed is a good rule of thumb.
No, it isn't the burn speed. You see, I don't even have them burnt to disc yet. When I say the quality is 'blocky' I mean it's like that on the computer AFTER the files have been converted. When I play them on the computer, it come sout a bit like that .. not on disc so it's not the DVD. It's the files themselvs .. but the original files, before being converted , are not like that. The quality on the originals are perfect when I play them on my computer. I wanted to fix the blocky bits BEFORE I burned them to DVD.
what you should do is make sure that the files that you download off the net are good files, thain you won't have that problem, also try puting the quailty settings to medium, that might also help
The quality of the iles I DL'ed are great.. their excellent, actually. But after they ave been converted with that program, they show a bit blocky, not like the originals. And like I said this is before I burn them.. If they showed blocky after I burned them to DVD, I would blame it on the DVD or the burning process but..nope. It's only like after I convert it.. before I burn it. And I had the quality set to high. The last group of videos I did were a bit better quality, and I had it set to medium. It seems to me like maybe the medium settings are better than the High settings? :s
