Is it true that the Toshiba SD-M1612 DVD-ROM drive cannot read DVD-R?

I read this somewhere and I have a DVD-R I just finished burning in Nero (which claims the disc is fine) and it seems to be readable in my optorite dvd burner. I checked and the disc is finalized so that's not the problem.

Your DVD-Rom will definitely read DVD-R so it'll be down to the way you have burnt the disc with Nero.

Did you burn using UDF ?

Did you burn DVD-Video [using UDF] ?

I don't know what UDF is.

It was a data disc

A data DVD-R should definitely play in your DVD Rom drive in that case
If it doesnt , I'd check all your hardware config...

I have that Toshiba drive and it would not read DVD+R unless they were book type DVD-ROM, but it reads all my DVD-Rs.

Recently, though, some of my data discs are unreadable in Windows 2000, but fine in Windows XP and it seems to be the UDF file format that Herbsman mentions that causes it.
