Hey guys;

I just need you to check the compatibility of all these parts and let me know if you think that the case and power supply are good for a BUDGET; and when I say budget; I mean tight a** budget;)......

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 2.2GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - Retail $74.00

Motherboard - ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $132.99

Video Card - PNY VCG7600SXPB GeForce 7600GS 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail $89.99

Memory - BUFFALO Select 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail $93.99

HDD - Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JSRTL 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Retail $59.99

DVD Burner - LITE-ON 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 40X CD-ROM IDE DVD Burner included extra White bezel - Retail

Power Supply - ePOWER ZU-550W ATX12V Version 2.0 / EPS12V 550W Power Supply 115/230 V UL, CE, FCC, TUV - Retail $52.99

Case - RAIDMAX Astro ATX-268WB Black 0.7mm Japanese SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail $30

All of these will be purchased from Newegg; and including S&H; the total comes to $597.86;).....

And lastly; as for changes made; I've made the tough decision of not going with socket AM2 this time around; because everywhere I look it only leads me to going way out of my budget.......so I don't think I'l l be doing that. However; I did manage to squeeze in the 1 GB of RAM; which is nice;......

...but the main point here is that I'd like you guys to make sure that the power supply I selected has all the necessary connectors I need to plug in all the components to work; because this is my first PC build; and the last thing I want is to have a psu that doesn't have the right connector to power my dvd burner, hdd, cpu, gpu, mobo,,etc.; you get the idea;)....

P.S. I just want to double check on this; but will the dvd burner I selected be 100% compatible with the mobo??? and also; aside from the psu + case; what do you guys think of the components for this being a n00bs' first build; and it being on an EXTRREEMMELLY tight budget???

All help is greatly appreciated;
Thanx;
Jake

Well yes; of course I'd like help! [please..lol]

The reason why I said that is because I just want to make sure that the one I selected is good enough for my current setup.....

...because I already understand the fact that you can't get an awesomely good psu for like $50; I mean; every other place I've gone for ppl to reccomend stuff for me; it ends up being stuff that's way out of my budget; or it just totally throws everything else in my budget off track....so that's why; ....I just want to know if anyone's had any experience with that psu; and also; I just want someone with the higher experience level to be able to go "Yep; that one will be just fine for your specs;)"...because I feel pretty confident with getting that psu anyways; when you check out the reviews on Newegg; you'll seee that one guy has bought like 9 of those psu's and says that each one worked like a charm.......so I thought that this wouldn't be a bad choice for a psu;.....let me know if you think different....

OK, the processor you have is good but I cant help you much about it since i am a intel guy. The motherboard is great, the only thing is I dont know what type of ram it can take. The graphics card is good, you will be able to play mostly all the games out now. And for the memory I would go for Crucial, Kingston or Corsair.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145505 But you can go with what you want and I will have to make sure this ram I 100% capable in your mobo or someone else that knows can help you. The hard drive is good but I would have to get two hard drives, one for the OS and one for saving stuff OR you can just get an external one(dont know when your comp will go loco). The LITE-ON drive is all you need. For the power supply I am not to good with because there are intel and AMD supported power supply's, by=ut if your power supply(ePower) can support it, its a good buy. I would not go with that case, not so good with cooling. Cheap cases are not always good, just remember this, get a case with good cooling e.x front fan, rear fan or also a side fan. Will get back to you with a better case.

Hey; I just wanna say thanx for the Re-; you've got no idea how much that means to me; I've posted all over the internet and it seems as though everyone blows me off; so thank you;)

...anyways; as for the memory; I took a gander at that; and it looks good; but somebody told me that its much better to go with dual channel.[i.e. 2 x 512 MB]....?....so just let me know what you think about that; otherwise I'll see right now if there's any Corsair 512 mb sticks. And as for the case; yeah; I kinda figured that it wasn't going to be a super good idea; so I'll see what ya got instore for me when you re-......

...but ne ways; THANK YOU!!!! so much; it's good to finally have somebody LISTEN to you;)...

Thx;

No problem, thats true about the RAM, but I dont realy go that way since I naver did it that way. but you can do that, get two 512MB in kingston, crucial or corsair. Here is two cases I got::

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811147059

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811153031 Find out from newegg if this comes with its srews, but the first one I give you is good, but its your money. And one more thing if you going to put a next type of fan+ heatsink on your CPU let me know because it might not fit in that case because of the airduct.

Here is the dual channel RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145480
I have one more thing to do, I have to make sure the RAm will work 100% in your mobo, will tell you in like 5min

This is what you mobo supports:
USB Support: 2.x Compliant
Error Detection Support: ECC and non-ECC
Chipset: nVidia nForce4 SLI
Supported DRAM Types: DDR SDRAM only
Module Types Supported: Unbuffered only
Max Unbuffered DDR SDRAM: 4096MB
Max Component Density: 1024
184-pin DIMM Banking: 4 (2 banks of 2)
Graphics Support: Dual PCI Express x16, SLI capable

I cant find eny info on the corsair site so you will have to call them and ask. or if you getting a crucial ram kit here is a link: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.a...N%2DSLI+Premium

I will have more info later, right now I got to go.

Hey again;....I just was looking at stuff on the internet; and double checking on my parts; and saw a review of my buffalo memory; and I think I'm gonna end up sticking with it; because I haven't seen anything negative about it yet.....I know, I know, it's not Corsair or ne thing special; but right now that's looking like a pretty good option to stick with.......but as for it being compatible; are you sure about that??? [imo; I'm pretty sure that the Buffalo RAM I selected will work with my mobo......]

also; I decided to change the case I selected to that Rosewill one you gave me; because I like the idea of it having a nice big 120 mm fan to take out all the heat;.....and that brings up another point; since I've got all retail parts; will I need anything extra for cooling???? because last time I checked; it said that the AMD cpu I selected comes with cpu cooler and heatsink + fan.......and, this mobo has that special pipe thingy going to the chipset; so I won't need to put a fan on that; so I'm thinking that I don't really need to buy anymore fans/cooling supplies other than the stuff that my components come with, right??

thx

OK, thats good you're taking that case. The only thing is some of the casses have problems with the non screw plastic thing, most ppl use screws instead. The rear fan will cool the heatpipe and the fan+heatsink the cpu comes with is good but if you will be running this comp for long hours or playing games you can get a better fan lateer on if it runs at a hot temp. But thats not realy needed, but ppl like to change it sometimes because its just a lil better than the ones it comes with. Plus your G card will run cool because of the holes on the side of the case. I have a 2.80GHz processor but I got a 3.0 fan+heatsink and now I can overclock without thinking of eny heat problems and I normaly run at 2.80GHz so it keeps me realy cool and I dont even have a rear fan, or holes on the side of my case, lol. The memory you selected will work great with that board because its: 400MHz, PC3200 Unbuffered x64 Non-ECC, 184 Pin( http://www.buffalotech.com/products/memory/select/select-dimm/ )

If you need enything let me know, ENYTHING.
