Problem with my nero 6.6 or burner

I am not sure if that is my problem, but it only happens when i use it. A few weeks ago I was trying to burn a dvd and my burner didnt even show that I had a blank disc in it. I was using Nero to do so. Now before that I hadnt had any problems and then out of nowhere it wont read or even play. So I put in another dvd burner from my other computer and it works...for awhile. Then I am burning with dvd rom and when asks for a blank cd I put it in then it reopens as if it is used. I ofcourse try other discs and brands...still the same. I have cleaned my registry and checked for virus and anything I can think of. Any answers?

Reinstall Nero definetely. Use the wipe tool at the Nero.com website.

that didnt do it. I even tried putting back the old burner that the dell came with...nothing. I think it is my burner but more to the point is something killing my burner in my computer or a virus?

Hello.

The Nero Clean Tools are here:

Run both the Registry Checker and Driver Clean Tool as well as the Nero 6 or Nero 7 Clean Tool (depending on version installed) before reinstalling. Be sure to write down your program serial number before uininstalling.


If reinstalling doesn't solve the problem, go back to an earlier restore point and see if the problem resolves.


If none of the above is successful, determine whether the problem is Nero-related or not as follows.

Create an ISO image file or DVD video folder of VOB files with whatever authoring software you use. Then burn the folder or ISO with ImgBurn. If that's successful, the problem is certainly Nero-related.

Thanks for the reply. I did figure out it wasnt Nero. I ended up doing a support window with dell. We went through the device manager and uninstalled my burner and reinstalled and still the same problem. I then had to reboot and go through my dell dignostic and it checked out the hardware and found an error code and stated optical drive spindle test failed. I am supposed to get a call back in an hour or so. I am wondering what caused it. computer is only 3 months old. Not to mention I put in my old burner from my back computer and it worked for awhile...now same thing. I double checked it by putting it back in my old computer and its done. So now I have two dead burners...any ideas?

Unfortunately, I don't. It does seem odd that both burners would go out. I suppose it's possible there is a power problem that's thrashing the drives.
