DVD to flash video?

I'm trying to rip a DVD and edit out a few short segments of video, then convert it to flash for my website. I've been trying to use DVD Decrypter and Windows movie maker for the editing. I've tried changing the file extension to .mpg form the .vob, but I end up getting only the audio file coming into movie maker! I've tried Intervideo WinDVD, which allows editing, but as soon as I try to edit the source file, I lose the audio!I have updated my codecs, but something isn't right. Shouldn't this be fairly straight forward? The DVD files aren't even protected... Unfortunately, I'm very new to this.

I used avs video converter (shareware) before. It supports converting, editing videos like AVI, swf, etc. But I have never converted dvd to flash using it. Maybe it can do this. http://www.topvideopro.com/guide/avi-mpe...o-converter.htm

I've got Flash 8 encoder to convert to flv, but as I understand it if you use mpg format you will lose the audio on conversion. So I am hoping to edit, then save in AVI, then encode in flash to use on the web-page. Since I have had trouble getting a foundation mpg file organized, I may have to try that. I can't seem to find a way to edit the video in Flash 8.
