Converting DivX to VCD???

I have a Russian movie "Kin-Dza-Dza" on a DivX CD. I want to convert it to a VCD (or even DVD?) so I can play it in my DVD player. Problem is, I drag the movie file onto my hard drive, but it is a ".vid" extension & doesn't seem to be able to open in TMPGEnc or Virtual Dub!? The video file uses a "COL1" codec, if that means ANYTHING??? Can anyone please help me?

.vid, hmm that is new, download a program called avicodec and see if that gives any info on it!

Thanks for your reply! YEP I've already done that. AviCodec tells me this:
VIDEO: AVI file with ".vid" extension, COL1
AUDIO: Voxware MetaSound
What is "COL1"? When I try to open the file in Virtual Dub, I get this: "can't locate compressor for format 'COL1' (unknown)".
Any suggestions, anybody???

OK I worked it out (should've done my homework first I guess!). For posterity's sake, this is what I did:
1) Opened TMPGEnc
2) Clicked on Options/Enviro Settings/VFAPI Plug-In
3) Right-clicked DirectShow Multimedia File Reader & increased priority to 2!
Now TMPGEnc accepts my looney ".vid" file and I can convert to VCD/SVCD/DVD whatever!
YEEE-HAR!
