Burning mp3's to CD burns waves

I had a bunch of mp3 files that I planned to turn into wav files so I could burn an audio CD (my audio system CD player does not handle mp3s). I forgot to convert them and dragged the mp3 files to Nero Express to burn an audio CD. After realizing what I'd done, I tried playing that CD and it worked fine.

Evidentally Nero converted the mp3s to waves.
Is that expected behavior?

Yeah thats normal. When making audio cd, it just audio cd with track info, as cdda
