I recently bought a new creative soundblaster audigy 4 sound card.
After i installed the soundcard i didn't really notice any difference over the onboard sound i was using.

When i watch movies & listen to music i always use windows media player 10, instead of the software provided by Creative.
Could this be why the sound doesnt sound any different?

Also, when i play games the sound doesnt seem to be any better either.
Should i try putting the sound card in a different pci slot?

I've checked the Creative site for any latest patches,
but i dont seem to see any.
This is the page with my card:-
http://www.creative.com/products/product...5&product=14103

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

P.S My System specs are:-
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ o/clocked to 2.22GHz,
Asrock K8upgrade VN800 Socket 754 Mobo,
Geforce 6600 256MB AGP GPU,
2GB Corsair TwinX XMS DDR400 PC3200 Matching Pair,
250GB Samsung SP2504C SATA HDD,
320GB Western Digital My Book External HDD,
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4 Sound Card,
NEC 3520A DVD Writer,
Toshiba DVD Drive,
450W PSU
Coolermaster Hyper6 HSF,
Antec Case Exhaust,
Speeze HDD Coller With 2 Fans,
& A Couple Of Case Fans etc.

**EDIT** I just checked the version of my sound card driver & compared it to the driver on Majorgeeks.com. _______________Mine______________________Majorgeeks
Date_________18/06/2005__________________10/10/2006
Version______5.12.6.1161________________4.02.09.0016

I don't understand why the version on Majorgeeks driver is older than mine, but the date is newer.

Can anyone help??

cheers

Your sound problem is very difficult because wi cant hear the sounds here. Integrated on board audio is usually quite good, so good that is just no possibilities to hear any difference between it and separate soundcard. Is there some brum in the souds? It is also question of the speakers quality, so have you tried listening with headphones? It is very possible that Creatives own software is better to greate right sound quality. Try it also.

wow dude Neptun i haven't laughed so hard in ages "Integrated on board audio is usually quite good, so good that is just no possibilities to hear any difference between it and separate soundcard." dam dude dam r u kidding? if u haven't heard a separate sound card a good one not one of those genius brand cards flying around u could know the difference from miles away integrated sound card is cheap there r "good" ones but there rnt excellent integrated sound cards

ex i have a realtek alc 882 integrated sound card and the audigy 2 zs and when i shoot bullets on battlefield 2 on the audigy i hear lots of more sounds and it feels more real

to dougal well dude there is a automatic plug in that detects ure sound card and chooses the lates drivers 4 u on creative site so dl the drivers from there, use internet explorer since it wont detect it with Firefox

Err, what are you playing back on? If you are talking about crappy computer speakers (and I mean ALL of them), then you are right, there is no diff.

OK, thanks for the help guys.
I forgot to mention that im using Harmon/Kardon Soundsticks II.
These speakers sell for £150 on the net & in PC world, but im not sure if they are any good.
Here is a link to the page:-
http://www.harmankardon.com/product_deta...TICKSII&sType=C

Also what would i have to look for when buying a set of speakers?

@ELOKITO when i try to download the plugin or driver you speak of, it always says the page cannot be displayed.
Do you know where else i could download it from?
As i said i was going to download a driver from MajorGeeks, but the version number is lower than mine, but the date is more recent.

Thanks for the help guys
