Help! Noob confused about backup/rom

Hi,

I have been searching the net and scoured the forums, but can't seem to get a clear understanding of how to play or backup my Nintendo DS Lite or Game Boy Advance games.

In addition there are all these M3 and passkey versions. I want to play Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS games on my Nintendo DS Lite.

1. What do I need and what does each device do?

2. How much does each item cost approximately?

3. Where can I find more "recent" information about this?

4. What places do you recommend getting these items from, considering I'm from the U.S.?

5. How can I backup my own Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance games?

Thanks Kafluke. It now makes sense, as I was confused with all the devices. That FAQ should be a sticky on this forum. With better understanding other questions come to mind.

What is the difference between DS-EXTREME and M3 Simply? Is there a site that list different features between different devices?

I know the M3 Simplhy does not support Game Boy Advance backups, but what about DS-EXTREME?

I have a bunch of NDS and GBA games I would like to make a backup of. How can I do this? Do I need to patch the NDS games?

the major difference between the DS-XTREEM and the simply is that the DS-EXTREEM has integrated memory that cannot be upgraded. The simply uses micro sd so as greater capacities become available you can add to it.

well that I can't help you with. I haven't actually done that before. Sorry. I usually just download a backup of the game that I own.

I don't think many people know as I tried asking many places and nobody has given me an answer other than the obvious. You need additional hardware to make backups of your games...

Please post back if you do find something.

Well if you can download the backup you should be able to make a backup. Otherwise how would they be available for download.

If you read what I said again, what I attempted to convey was that apparently it seems not many people know how to do make backups.

I'm not questioning the feasibility of making backups of NDS and GBA games for the obvious reason you stated.
