I'm trying to burn a DVD, w/ Nero, which has several episodes. When I select the files from my hard drive, Nero shows the VOB file from one episode as two seperate. When I use software like WINAvi or DVDShrink and select the VOB files, it shows the episode as only one. I don't want to have the episodes "broken up." I love the editing software on Nero. I'm not sure what i'm doing or what to look for in the forums. I would gladly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance :)

Also if this helps, the files were originally AVI. and I used Winavi to to convert them to DVD files, and this was done individually as far as episode wise.

Well, .VOB .IFO and .BUP files are all required to burn a dvd. You should have them all if you converted it and havent deleted anything.

In Nero, go to Nero Burning Rom and then find your files and drap and drop to the DVD area. Then click burn.

The files are broken up into smaller sections, which go back as one when you burn it. :-)

Okay, so I used Nero Burning Rom and dragged all of the files over. I played the DVD once it finished and it played the first part of the episode, but not the second part of the same episode, then it skips onto the second the episode and does the same for this one as well. Should I have not converted each episode individually?

Is there a reason you pre-converted from AVI to DVD format instead of
allowing NeroVision to do it? You can make the Menu of your choice
and not worry about VOB creation versus episodes, etc.

If you mean why is there more than one VOB per AVI, that is because
of the recommended standard for VOB file size: nothing to do
with individual AVI files.

Zapattack, first off thanks. I thought I had to convert the AVI files to VOB files in order for me to burn them with Nero. I didn't know I could use Nero to do so as well. When I use Nero to do the converting should I do the episodes seperately or together? I just want to make sure that i'll be able to burn it to a disk(s) correctly. Thanks again.

The number of episodes on a disk depends on file size. One episode at maximum quality could fill the disk, but three at lower quality could possibly be added. (Experiment to find the quality you want.)
Open NeroVision or NV Express, select DVD, DVD Video. Select Add Video Files (AVI, MPG, etc.). The bar at the bottom will show how full the DVD will be. Add Files until full.
Note that default is regular DVD, but you can chose Dual Layer DVD9. Nero will prompt to reduce quality if you chose to not reduce files.
On the next screen choose Titles only or Titles & Chapters. Click on the Edit Menu bar at the lower left to choose buttons, pictures, or put in the name of the disk (The Simpsons). Click on the 'Nero button/frame' on the screen to edit what appears below/above the button such as Episode 1, Episode 2. Everything else is edited from the box on the right of the window.
'Automation' lets you have the disk start playing automatically without clicking anything. Click Next and test. Click Next and burn.
Nero will take at least an hour to transcode (convert from AVI or MPEG, build menu structure and VOB files) and 10-20 minutes to burn.
Not ready to really burn? Choose Write to Hard Disk and you will have the proper files in a folder (VIDEO_TS)that can be played/tested (VIDEO_TS.VOB) by Showtime or WMPlayer, or burned using regular Nero at a later time. Don't forget to save as you go through each step.

Glad you got it sorted. I would have replied, but I'm in the UK and went to bed and then out this morning Lol

Happy Burning! :)

Glad to be of help. If the Nero help files said it the same way, it wouldn't have taken me weeks to figure it out. How about it, Nero, a Quick Start Guide to step through the basics?
