Ideal Program for DVD to AVI/MPEG

I've had some issues with various programs for turning DVDs into AVI or MPEG files. I am very familiar with video conversion tools (I prefer My Video Converter, but on occassion, I will use Total Video Converter, WinAVI Converter, or VideoConvertMaster). I need something that can select which audio track; I don't want any hardcoded subtitles. If there was something that could extract subtitles to .SRT or .SUB files, that would rock.

Programs I've played with: Super DVD Ripper (uck, it randomly stops working, even if you uninstall, remove all reg+data keys, and reinstall). Plato DVD Ripper, I think it was called, for another. There are a few others and they've all given be a certain degree of trouble. Any suggestions?

Did a bit more research. Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum to get the video and audio information and then SubRip to get the .SRT/.SUB subtitle file. That works wonderfully.
