Running Vista Ultimate RTM here, and having a devil of a time getting Nero installed without encountering errors.
Nero Ultimate 7.5.9.0a...custom Installation. Deselect everything except Burning ROM, Vision, ShowTime, Tools and Special Features.
Things proceed normally until the installer begins "Registering Modules." Then, DOS windows pop open then dissapear a moment later, and popups begin appearing:
I've used Google to research the problem but all I find are some references to Vista RC1, and I don't show the same symptoms as in those situations. In fact I can find nothing wrong at all, except that the installer has these problems.
I've tried uninstalling and scrubbing the registry for any references to Nero, NeroVision, ShowTime, Ahead, etc. Done no good.
This may or may-not help you I also had alot of problems with Nero 7 update. First of all, the Nero unistall WILL NOT get reed of all the Nero program. Go to their web site and down load their CLEAN program. This will remove ALL files and folders. Also, their is a big problem when you try and get an update by the use of the quick link on your desk top program. Go to the Nero site for the update. I have yet to get one good update by way of using the link in the program. But PLZ use the CLEAN program. This will help alot.
Remember to write down your serial number before using the cleantool. Reboot after it tells you to do so and re-install Nero. Let us know if that helps.
I ran the Nero Cleaner and rebooted, then re-ran the 7.5.9.0a installer, exactly as described in the OP.
I got the same errors as before....PLUS...
Right at the end of the installation these errors appeared...
Unable to register C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero7...
...\NeroBurn\NeroBurn.xml. Error code:1
...\NeroMediaStreaming\NeroMediaHomeMCE.xml. Error code:1
I'm running Vista as an administrator, and UAC is turned off.
Sorry took so long to reply but as of right now Nero is not compatible with vista in some cases. Not sure of when they will have an update which addresses the issue as 32 bit and 64 bit vista are hit or miss with Nero. Will get back with a link once I find the article.
