Does anybody know if this is gonna replace the iPod? Or if they're gonna bring out a new iPod or anything? Cos I don't want the iPhone, but I do want a new audio/media player. Just wondering if they're gonna bring out a new iPod or is this it for iPods?

iPhone (4GB or 8GB) includes phone, wide-sreen iPod (3.5 inch, support video/audio playback) and internet all-in-one. Maybe released on either first quarter or early second quarter of 2007.

Yeah, i'm aware of what you said, but i was a bit surprised they didn't announce an updated ipod. I'm just wondering are they planning on replacing the ipod with the iphone? Its just i don't expect 80gig ipod owners to be in a rush to switch to an iPhone.

I think that it is hard to replace iPod with iPhone this year. Its storage makes this possibility limited. Anyway, I am expecting coming iPhone. Take a look at iPhone picture:

Whats the sense of making nmew converters for the iPhone when it plays the same videos as the iPod?

Apple didn't say what formats iPhone would support, but video size should be different from iPod. See iPhone overview.

no, Iphone is not going to be the new Ipod. If it was going to be the new ipod they would have called it the IPOD not IPHONE. The new ipods will keep coming out. Like the wide-screen with touch. WIthout the phone,internet,camera. and it'll cost about $250 or $350 for 100gb. So new ipod will come out as will as new Iphone will come out. It's two different product. But i think they're waiting for the iphone to come out and sell some and then update the ipod. Cause apple know what we're thinking and they're not going to remove the ipod. cause iphone is not even out yet and it might not even make that much profit cause of the price. I'm sticking with my ipod cause i already ahave phone. A lot of people don't mind having two product. Espcially when the ipod is 30gb not like Iphone which is 4gb and 8gb. 8gb that's like 3movies. how am i suppose to put music photo and movies on 8gb? I might get 4g iphone. 4g stands for 4th generation. which is going to take awhile. That's why i don't really give a crap about iphone. Cause when 4thG comes out the prcies will drop and it'll have build in 30gb hdd to replace my phone and my ipod. So till than which will take 5 years, I'm keeping with my ipod. cause i love it. I don't want to waste batty i love having two different product at this moment. I also don't like the touch sccreen ipod right now. I'm might actully wait for 100gb iphone for all my movies and porn. But that'll be the 5th generation of iphone. But you never know. I don't have any friends or know anybody who could afford that much money with 2year contract with cingular. But that's cause i'm dirt poor. I'm a white trash. I'm not some rich kid who takes money from parents and spended it. NO, i'm the kid who makes my own living and trying to keep up with the world. and i'm happy with all the stuff i got. But the iphone is pretty cool cause it's the lastest thing for ipod. IPod is build in. But the product is not ipod itself. They won't remove ipod product till next generation of product. which means no more mp3 players. That'll take some time but in korea and in japan. They already have build in hdd cell phone with the lastest tech. I don't know why steve said it's 5years ahead tech. cause in five years they'll have a lot storage build in and might run a PC in five years.

how do you know it's actully cool? It's not even out yet and i already know how to use it and know all the featchers by looking at the video. I like having two different thing.

I have gotten very accustomed to using a touch screen from my Nintendo DS, and if the iPhones screen is that easy to use, than there isn't any way it won't be just about the coolest thing around. Only drawback is that huge ass price tag, and having to use Cingular.
