alright i went on to dvdrhelp dvd player compatibility list and some people said if you burn at 1x the Samsung M101 would recognize vcd's.

but i dont know how to change the speeds to 1x on anything. i have Nero and Burn at Once so can someone please help?

chances are you will not be able to get down to 1x. your cd writer dictates the slowest speed possible by that writer..most new ones have a minimum speed of 4x.. you should have no issues burning a VCD at 4x..
