Nero premium burning failure - Unable to start Disc-at-once

Having a NEC 6500A +/- CDRW DL DVD recorder driver version 5.1.2535.0,
when i try to write dvd data disc i get firstly ''invalid disc'' with every kind of dvd media and secondly ''unable to start disc-at-once''.The option disc at once is totally greyed out and i am unable to change it
I installed reinstalled cleaned the registry updated to Nero premium but nothing.I am not familiar with upgrading the cd rom drive

Thanks for your reply but i had not a single trace of luck..i did everything you said though i dont have roxio installed.
again invalid disc whatever media used and ''could not perform start of disc at once'' the box of write method (dao and tao)is permanently greyed out and cannot be changed.It seems that disc at once is not functioning at all.

The link I provided for Nero update was for version 7.5.9.0, as yet I know nothing of the latest version 7.7.5.1

Silly asking for sure, how do i update the cd rom driver? Ive never done this before and when i double click the exe file i get ''target is not found correctly'' By the way wih Roxia that i now installed there is the same problem i cannt get it work

Nobody?
Double clicked the exe,system properties update from a known location,safe mode,deactivation of the antivirus etc gave all no result the same error appeared ''target cdrom is not found correctly''
Is there probable that i have a hardware problem?

Did all so im sure that is not software related.Tried Tdks and Verbatims with the same result. Besides not every single program that i have can write dvds Nero,Roxio,Shrink,Decrypter same error.
Is there a way to flash the firmware that i dont know?
Seems like a hardware pain.

I managed to make it work hopefully alone! All people that have nec cd dvd roms or others that get the error "target not found correctly" when they try to flash their cd dvd rom listen:
1.Download the newest firmware for your burner
2.Go to http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/#download and download the appropriate tool.
3.Flash your rom using the tool and the firmware you downloaded.
Now it worked like a charm for me and i was so lucky that it was not a hardware fault as my guarantee has expired.
