How can I charge laptop?

When a laptop is used for the first time is the battery fully charged? I'm trying to find out how to charge it. I can see the battery light is yellow. The laptop is Toshiba A105-4284. I don't want to plug it in every time I use it.

usually laptop batteries are only half way charged straight outta the factory

my dell laptop batt when new is half charge, if its not fully charge a LED is lit but at full its(LED) off
