Any comments on this new version? Although it seems simpler I'm still not sure of the advantages of 'deep analysis' and also I can't get this version to re-author as of yet. When I click 're-author' all I get is a new page with nothing except 'new DVD' in top right corner.

Hi Discmania

When you click reauthor it opens up the new window which you can then drag files into.

Not sure how much better the deep analysis is? Havent done any comparisons. I was hoping it would get rid of my chapter pauses but new media on the way for that..

The Deep analysis thing is to give the program a much better idea of the compression required for the different sizes of DVD. If it is a large DVD and you are using the old ver the analysis could be quite alot out as it only takes information from every 40th frame or something rather than every single frame.

Yes but it takes ages to analyse. Jonnydoe - you cannot drag files into the new window from the old. The re-authored files should appear in the new window but it is blank. This beta version doesn't work for me, so I'll use v2.3 until it's formally upgraded.

It will work. You have to drag the files into the new section on the left hand side of the screen that pops up. You do this by moving the re-author screen slightly to the right. While keeping it on top of the normal screen, but still being able to see all the normal screens files, click and drag to the new screen.

It seems to be quite good. Only problem i see is that when you press back-up in re-auhtor mode, it shows all files as being backed-up, even though it is only the Re-authored ones.

Great job none-the-less Mr Shrink

OK I can now drag the files but what an effort! Every time you click on the file to drag the destination screen dissapears beneath the screen you've clicked on. Never used to get this with v2.3. I think this version needs a little working on but one can't complain too much.

I thought the same at first, but now i actual feel this way is better for re-authoring as it allows you to see the file structure and the re-authored side at the same time.

I just used DVDShrink 3.0 beta3 last night for the first time and really liked it. I was able to rip both sides of a two-sided disk to separate folders (without compression), read in the files from the first folder, select the title I wanted and added it to a project. I then read in the files from the second folder, selected the title I wanted and added it to the project. The compression levels were automatically set for the titles to allow both to fit and yet use the lowest level of compression possible. I tried the "deep analysis" mode when creating the target files. This definitely slowed things down, but when I burned the resulting image, I found the resulting video to be excellent. Now my wife can watch both Act 1 and Act 2 of "Riverdance: Live in New York City" without having to get up and flip the disk between the two. This is the first "two-sided to one-sided" burn that I've done. All the threads I've read on doing them before struck me as way too much work. This was quite easy. I can't wait for the final version of this excellent free package to ship. Kudos to DVDShrink for developing and updating such a great program!

I havent tried the deep analysis because i dont want to spend so much more time on the DVD. I would be willing to spend more time on a variable compression version rather than deep analysis.
