Hi
I have 4 slots for memory in my computer, I had 4 x 256mb = 1GB so I removed 2 and replaced them with 2x 1GB = 2GB so that left me with 2.512gb in my computer. The slots were in sets of 2, meaning two ram sticks were standing up and another 2 were kind slopped to the side. I just ran Belarc and this is what is says about my memory -
2560 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'CHANNEL A DIMM 0' has 256 MB
Slot 'CHANNEL B DIMM 0' has 1024 MB
Slot 'CHANNEL A DIMM 1' has 256 MB
Slot 'CHANNEL B DIMM 1' has 1024 MB

I read on the net that 2 equal amounts of ram need to be placed into each dimm section so I changed over the two that was slopped to the side but from what I see from the above reading I might have installed them in to the wrong bit, Should I take out channel A dimm 0 and put the 1GB stick in there so the 2 1GB sticks are together? or does it really matter? I have no idea..

That looks fine as the both the 1gb and the 512mb DIMM is on the same channel.
