Is a PCI SATA card slower than a SATA connector on the motherboard?

i have 2 sata ports on my pc. i want another one for a hard drive. if i fit in a pci card wid extra 2 sata ports, is this slower? slower transfer rates?

The answer is probably yes the PCI will be slower.
Although getting a good card will mean you are unlikely to see any real-time speed difference, it would only be visible with test tools used for bench-marking.

PCI speed is 132MBPs
SATA is 150MBPs
SATA 2 is 300MBPS
