I have an NTSC dvd (Black(2005)), and a jvc dvd player which seems to be able to play it but not to sort out the subtitles.
I've faffed about 'til I'm bluefaced with settings for the dvd player and the telly (also JVC).
What happens, of course, is that subtitles are played right at the bottom of the screen, and nothing I can do makes them visible.
Ripped with OaO, and tried using ConvertXtoDVD to move the subtitles (I have an .srt file), up the screen, but it doesn't work.
Now, I'd be happy to re-rip it and use TPMGenc to burn subtitles onto an AVI and then burn, but is this really laborious process really necessary.

To recap, I want to be able to put subtitles onto the picture part of the film, rather than on the black bit below it.

As you can see, I've tried everything I can think of.

Help??
