you need to do some reading and gain some comprehension, t-loader.

if you want more ram, you buy compatible ram for your computer and plug it in. if you're maxed out on ram and you want more, you have to replace your motherboard with one that can handle more ram.

thats not as easy as it sounds on a laptop, also the manufacturer time computers are now finished.

well, if you can't find compatible ram and you don't have the ability to swap in another motherboard, you are S.O.L.

if they did, i recomment you get a new laptop... or try to find a motherboad that will work, like aus said.

for the most part,laptops aren't upgradeable. that's why it's better to get a desktop, especially if you're on a budget. unless you're carrying your compie everywhere, laptops just aren't worth it.

yes they closed two years ago. but theres always hope that some of their engineers use this site, or one of the pc wizzos that might have info on compatible ram for swap, if you dont ask you dont know?

HEY!! laptops are good... im buying one from my uncle's mate's mate ( big trail... i know ) coz he works at dell.

but ill still have my 2 desktops :-P

the laptops really just so i can be anywhere...

mr auslander you seem to be under the illusion that people who buy laptops are on a budget, or carry them around, neither are true most laptops are bought where space is the premium, also most laptops with any quality in the UK anyway cost about twice as much as a similar power desktop.

you don't have to go to another forum for help, you simply need to understand what you're asking, t-loader.

you asked how to increase the ram on a hard drive, and now we understand that's not what you mean at all.

simply put, you need to pop the panel covering the ram off the bottom of the laptop and check to see if any slots are open. if they are, you need to figure out what type of ram your machine uses and then add more in.

if all spots are full, you need to find out the maximum amount of ram and maximum speed of ram your machine can use and see if you're not already at that limit. if you're not at the limit, you can replace your current ram with superior products.

if you're unable to add any more ram in any way and still want to put some in the laptop, you need to find a parts laptop from a similar series that is compatible with your monitor cables, processor, hard drive, etc etc and swap them out. be sure that the motherboard you are putting in is actually capable of using more/better ram.

all your other options for more ram consist of getting another laptop to work with and retiring your current one to kiddy toy, solitaire, or the rifle range.
